Everything was as good as can be, I have no complaints.
The OW course was done just like a regular course, coach was very patient to allow translation time.
The Tulamben trip was also well arranged, all I have to do is get in the water. Can't be any easier than that.

I'm back in S'pore. Just wanna say thanks for the great service! I've enormously enjoyed my dives at Tulamben with you. The Liberty wreck and Tulamben wall are simply awesome, I don't think I'll ever get enough =)

All your staff were great, and in particular, I really appreciate the safety concern that Sudarmoko raised on my last diving day. I was doing the deep dive specialty, and had been diving to 22-35m like 5 times since the day before, and he warned me about the potential DCS I might suffer as I need to fly on the next day.

It's a pity that we were short of one dive, but Simon's assurance that he'll credit one dive on my next trip reflects the company's professionalism.

So, yes, I'll be back soon. Perhaps in Sept/Oct, let's do some drift dives and Mola sighting around Penida!

Thanks to Bali Scuba, I had the best leave block I've ever had. Between courses and diving trips, I did 18 dives in the space of 19 days. I got Advanced Open Water Diver, Night Diver, NitrOx, Deep Diver and Underwater Naturalist specialist courses; I got to dive the USAT Liberty multiple times, as well as learn some of the basics about underwater photography. The instructors and divemasters were well versed in local conditions, professional and easy going, small class and group sizes ensured safe, effective dives that were enjoyed by all. Bali Scuba took care of all the details they could for me, which was a great load off my mind before I even arrived. They were helpful and gave sound advice aimed at making you a better diver, and had a handle on their operations.

This was my first trip to Bali, and on future trips, I intend to make full use of Bali Scuba for planning further diving adventures.

Well im home and back at work and back to 'normal'...(what is normal I hear you say)!!!!!!!!!!! Thankyou for the great time I had in Bali,it was hard work but im still buzzing from it all.I loved doing the Rescue and Dive Master courses and the way you all helped and supported me....I really do appreciate all your hard work.
Im now saving up for my next trip to Bali and am hoping that it wont be long till Im back diving with you....no escaping from me I'm afraid!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the diving and I'm happy to give feedback.

While in Bali we dived with 3 dive center including yours,

1st
Recommended by the travel rep, the equipment and dive leader was just ok and acceptable, but the organisation was not poor and the transport and food was at best unsafe.

2nd
For ease we tried the dive center based in the hotel, this is is one of the worst centers I have used in 25 years of diving, unorganised allowing inexperienced divers to do the fast drift dives etc. the food was an health hazard as was the boat but these were not nearly as bad as the equipment, there was little that actualy worked right at all and is the worst I have ever come across.

3rd being yourselves
I wish that we had dived with yourselves earlier, if we had we may have got more dives in. I'm pleased to say that from start to finish everything was absalutley spot on. The the organisation, boat and equipment was as good as anybody could wish for and our dive leader and the others on board was a breath of fresh air compared with the other dive centers.
A relaxed and profesional approach, I would definatley recommend you to others diving in Bali.

Your group caused me to get a sinus infection!!!

Actually, I had a very enjoyable experience, and although I am having some sinus issues this week it was not Bali Scuba's fault!

On the booking procedure, it all sounded too easy to me....and I found that I should not have worried at all about it. The small villas that you had me stay at in Sanur and in Tulumben (sp) were both wonderful. In hindsight I would have rather stayed at a place like these rather than the Bali Beach hotel but hindsight is 20/20.

The reception at the dive center was very good, and it was very efficient. I found your guys very willing to accommodate small details...for instance, I had a wireless transmitter for my dive computer, and they had no issue putting it on a regulator for the week. And the guides...you have a very good group. I have all the names at home right now (and I am in the office) but I had a good experience each day. A couple comments here as compliments. On one dive day at Nuna Penida you sent out two dive masters for a small group (father/daughter and four other divers). There were different dive skills at play here and some dive shops would have just combined them. I also had the same experience my first day there, and then at Tulumben. In fact, at Tulumben it was just me and the dive master for both the night dive and three dives the next day. I just want you to know that I appreciated the way you run the business in this respect.

Equipment, boats, vans, pick-up at hotels, drop offs, everything went very well...and when there was an issue with Nitrox tanks for one day as soon as I got back to the dive shop everyone apologized and I was given a souvenir shirt to say sorry for the mix up.

You guys are running a great dive shop, and I would recommend you to others coming to Bali for some good diving and treatment. I will make it back, and I already know the dive shop I will be using.

Dear Simon,

We had a really good experience with Bali Scuba. We were particularly happy with the booking process and how quickly we got responses to our inquires via email. Everything went very well with the actual diving and we were happy with our experience. It was nice to have a large stash of water and soft drinks available during the day and the transportation was very comfortable. Since it was a long drive to Tulamben, we definitely appreciated the fact that the car was not packed with people and that there was enough room to sit comfortably. One quick observation is that the wet suits seemed to be pretty worn out, however, that did not impact in any way our diving experience.

I've just made it home and received your email so sorry for the slow responses.

I really enjoyed the Diving it was nice to get back in tropical waters again, I have to say the whole thing was great I did my Advanced open water while with you and my instructor Menyon was excellent, he?is a really nice guy, his instructions and communication?were clear and he helped to make the whole?experience both?laid back but at the same time giving you the confidence as a fairly novice diver that you were safe and prepared for possible currents and dangers prior to any dive as everything was explained clearly. The porters were great I was used after my last experiences of diving and washing out kit changing tanks etc but you guys did the lot and with no fuss whatsoever, the porters at Tulamben were incredible how they manage two tanks on their head accross those stones is amazing.?Regarding vehicles?I didn't?travel with you guys I met up with you at Tulamben so I don't really have experience of that but the boat and crew we used on the dives to crystal bay,mangrove and toya pakeh, was good it had space for individual kit and tanks, you could sit in or out of the sun if you wanted after each dive and it had good ladder access. Drinks were always available after each dive wherever we were, lunch at Tulamben was great, lunch on the boat, personally for me I'd have preferred just sandwiches rather than rice etc but thats a minor thing as overall my experience with you guys was really enjoyable.

Theres just one thing I'd consider if I was you guys ? I don't have a camera yet,?it's on my list of things to do and get, but it's nice to return home with something to show freinds relatives things you've seen, either a small set of photos or a disk you could buy with a set of photos on, so you could give people an idea of what you saw, I'd have bought one, other dive schools I've been with in the past have them and it must be a way of making a little extra money for you guys too.

Thanks for this and sorry I couldn't get in touch any earlier, it's been crazy...

I only have positive feedback - Komang was excellent and really nice/ helpful and took good care of the less capable divers in our group. You & Simon were very helpful with me and my friends in terms of booking and making arrangements etc (although it was kind of confusing in the beginning when our dates could not be confirmed but that's okay).

Everything else was okay - we tell everyone to dive with Bali Scuba ... maybe the only thing that could be improved (though i think it's beyond your reach) is the food in Tulamben - it's not that nice really (although the staff were really nice & friendly)... so that was a downer but as we could move around and make our own choices for dinner, we at least had good dinners. The new accommodation/ breakfast etc in Sanur was fantastic and the people there really helpful too.

We had a great time (although the water was WAY too cold for me!) and i'm really really happy with how everything went - we had to drop out of the last day of diving cos it was just way too cold and i wasn't feeling so well and really tired... but that was no fault of yours!

Thanks again for everything - don't know when we'll be back in Bali (it will probably take us another 3 years hehe) but we will come back and we'll come back to you guys of course! (oh! and the food at your new restaurant is FANTASTIC... great move!)

First of all, let me say that in a month of being in Bali, getting my open water certificate with you guys was my top highlight. I had an amazing experience. Thierry was awesome...no other words to describe it. He is witty, charming, and a lot of fun. He is very knowledgeable, and always ready to answer any questions. He was also very patient during our learning process, challenging us, but not making us uncomfortable. Top rate instruction! He is a truly inspirational person too, having chosen his particular career path. As for the facilities, and the dives, I felt they also were very good. Just wish it could have lasted longer! But the good thing is that I have looked into the Advanced Open Water Course in my area. I think I might even take it right to the end...but one thing at a time. Its been a long time since I have felt truly passionate about something...and diving for me has opened a door. Thanks for being a part of that experience. It is something I will always treasure.

Safe Diving is the number one priority during any dives and DM Sebastian have live up to the standard ensuring safety in both of us.

1)Booking procedure : Extremely good , efficient and truly helpful.
Thanks to Mia for giving us the oppurtunity to stay in a suite room in Puri Mertha Sindhu.We really love the accomodation so much.
And all because her, we also get a superb dive package even though to the very last minute of us departing to Bali.
Thanks Mia for making the necessary arrangement ang bookings for us.

2)Dive Centre : Very neat , tidy & cozy.
Greeted by the warm smile of Nita.
The centre offers a variety of diving equipment and gears. What can i say.... u guys are totally equipt with everything.

3)Lunch, guides ,boats & equipment : Lunch is simple but yet it is fufilling.
The Boats are fast and spacious. Very skillfull boatman makes the ride enjoyable and pleasent.
Equipment Rental of the 5mm wetsuit provided is the major saviour of our dive in Nusa Penida. If not for it we would definately be freezing in the cold waters.

Dear Bali Scuba....you guys have made our days diving in Bali a memomarable one. If not for u....who have a thought that we could see the USS Liberty wreck in Tulamben and
also of course the Molas Molas in Nusa Penida ( if not for the 5mm wetsuit...heheheh ).
It is a dream came true...Thanks to BALI SCUBA.....

Hi Mia,

just a quick reply after I returned today to good old Germany. With the part of my holidays at Sanur and Bali Scuba I was quite satisfied. Everything went well, was well organized (thanks Mia) and I had a good time. I especially enjoyed diving with Knut, very good guide who gave me a good time and took care of my broken computer although it couldn't be repaired and will be send to Suunto/Finland now, small things that make a difference. I later travelled to Kuta/Lombok and Gili Trawangan and also had a great time and great dives as well, 35 in total for the whole trip.

As a general advise I would like to give (what I didn't experienced with Bali Scuba but later 2x with other dive operators) is that, as a more or less experienced diver (185 dives now) it was quite annoying to dive in a group with one or two beginners (<30 dives). I had a dive involving some current where the beginner finished his bottle with 50 bar after 26 minutea where I had still 110 bar and we had to go to the surface. This is sooo annoying as I had to pay same as for a "normal" dive lasting 45-60 minutes and really complained afterwards. As the cost involved for another dive guide is quite small compared to the price for a dive I think customers can expect diving with equally experienced divers or a separate guide.

Anyways, thanks again for the good time and professional operation at your divebase and hope to come back to Bali soon.

If i didn't listen to you, I wouldn't have had my pictures taken with the Mola.... my only evidence of seeing this wonderful fish!

boat - would be better if it is a bit bigger, 9 guest + 3 staffs was a
little cramp
equipment - new 5mm wet suites, excellent

The only thing I think that needs improvement would be the waiting time to get from the beach(Sanur) onto the boat. On both days it took over 30mins of standing by the beach before a boat-taxi could pick us up for the transfer onto the boat.

Hi Simon,
I had great fun experience learning my basic open water diving with bali scuba, I was incredibly impressed with Menyun, his professionalism, his patience and his sincerity in helping me throughout the course, he not only made learning so much fun, he also constantly kept a look out for me and nathan's safety as well. I guess the only thing that could have been better was finding the perfect fit for my equipment, the mask and the BCD was the smallest available which was still a tad to big for me, it kinda hinder my learning ability a bit. But overall, its great fun and i certainly would choose to dive with Menyun again my next trip to bali.

Sorry for the late reply. Being back in the rat race is such a let down after our amazing trip to Bali. I've been meaning to write and thank everyone at Bali Scuba.

Knut was an amazing instructor. We had a completely life changing experience and cant wait to get back to Bali Scuba. My wife and I were so nervous about the PADI Open Water Course and diving in general. Non of us having spent much time in the sea. I have actualy never swum in a natural body of water before. Knut was very patient with us and was very thorough with the training, so when we did jump into the ocean I felt like I belonged with the fish.

We have heard a lot about fly-by-night dive centres in Bali and the rest of the world and we were thankful for the extremely proffesional dive centre you run- we actualy noticed all the extra training going into use once we were diving in the ocean.

I am completely hooked on diving now and cant wait to upgrade through the PADI levels. Should have done this a long time ago!

Thanks again for a wonderful holiday and please give our best wishes to Knut. If youre ever in Dubai, the first round is on me!

One question. My husband brushedup against that fan coral that can cause itching while in Tulamben. How do we treat it? He has broken out in hive like bumps. Not sure what to look up on the internet for advise.

We had a lot of emails with you personally before the trip and had a few remaining questions that were quickly resolved by visiting in person when we arrived in the store the day before the safari. All your emails were wonderful, and clear.
Airport pickup and hotel delivery was extremely smooth. Wakatobi staff on Bali aparently kept the hotel/shuttle staff up-to-date on our charter's arrival time, and made sure we connected before leaving us to explore Bali with you.

Day one, pickup was a breeze, we just walked over to the shop and packed the van.
We enjoyed the muck diving, especially the Mimic Octo on Puri Jati. (We dove two dives there). **mind blowing**
Yes, it was a bit remote, but lovely. We then dove another muck dive off Werner Lau's shop in Pemuteran, and were not as impressed.
In hindsight, I am not sure there was anything wrong with the 2nd site / 3rd dive, but after a Mimic Octo on Puri Jati, it's hard to compete. ;>
We were promptly dropped off at the hotel for the night. It was wonderful again, we were upgraded to a "villa" and it was fantastic.
Food, service, room, even the outdoor shower were all wonderful. Flowers food, and view in the morning were all wonderful.

Day two, Pickup was delayed due to the van leaking some fluid, and a replacement vechicle was provided in a very timely manner. Most important we were kept up-to-date at all times by Sangut! We were NEVER worried.
We arrived at Paradise, literally, in Tulamben Bay, and did ALL REMAINING dives at this location with only two exceptions. We went over to Seraya for two dives on 9/10/06, but didn't care for the sealife and lack of variety (although the shore entry was easier). Back to Paradise! on Tulamben.
The rest of the trip was spent at Paradise. We can't say enough about the sealife, coral garden, wall "drop off", Liberty wreck, of this SINGLE site! It was absolutely world class. In hindsight, we would have paid more to stay one hotel east, as we actually ran into the rest of our Wakatobi group next door, and their hotel was MUCH nicer.

Paradise Hotel:
It was functional, cool, and very close to both rinse tanks, food, and diving areas.

Food:
It was good, cheap, and plentiful.
We felt that the bed was of low quality and was the single thing that detracted from our stay there.
Again, we would have rather stayed next door, as we were not on a super limited budget and cold have afforded $20/night more.

Driver
Bon Bon was wonderful, we wish we could have had him more than just the first day.

Divemaster
Sangut was wonderful. His ability to point out cool things to two of the world's biggest "Nudi nuts" was great.
We are experienced divers, and due to just the three of us, we were [all] able to relax and have lots of fun.
My trick was to grab his mask and take it with me during shore entry after he forgot it on shore one day. LOTS of fun.
He was very good to answer questions about the country, local area and customs of the people. He was just as excited about the local diving as we were. He enjoyed his job and it showed.

General Safari trip comments
Your staff offered to store our extra bags at the shop, so the safari was more enjoyable since we were on a 3 week trip and had a lot of bags. This allowed us to get down to our dive bag, the carry on, and the primary clothes bag; each.
Security was never a concern throughout our entire trip.
Food was never a convern through our entire trip.
Always plenty of water. Thanks!

In no way should our decision to forfit the last day of the safari and go to the spa reflect poorly or negatively on any member of your staff or the experience. We just realized we were completing a 3 week holiday and hadn't relaxed the ENTIRE time. 3-5 dives a day the entire time.
We appreciated the flexabilty in changing our safari once we sat down with your staff. Nusa was not the type of diving we were after, and we were able to work with you to change it to north coast diving quite easily. It was personalized to meet our individual tastes and wishes. That said, we wanted to go to the Menjangan island on the NW coast of Bali, but for some reason, we weren't allowed to dive there even though we brought it up several times during our final safari planning meeting. The rest of our group did this site, and loved it, but they weren't taking the safari with you.

I'm definately glad to have taken the course with you... I've heard of friends doing their swimming test in the sea instead of a pool and also the final cost of the course excluding course materials and rental of gear.
Correspondence was good and very fast as well. My queries were all answered promptly and I believe that that was one of the main reasons why I chose to take the open water course with your school. We enjoyed our dives tremendously, although the current for the first dive was a lot stronger than what we are used to, being quite new divers. But overall it was a very pleasant and enriching experience. The divemaster was very attentive, and we did feel very safe diving with him. He made sure to check on our air supply constantly, and offered to log our dives. The men on the boat were very helpful in aiding me with the heavy equipment. The rental equipment was in good condition, and lunch was a bit greasy but it did the job!

Overall, we had a very positive experience with Bali Scuba and will definitely use your services again should we decided to dive in Bali in the future.

Here are few thoughts of the diving trips and the arrangements.

In a nutshell, great THANKS to you and your crew, especially Komang and Kirman!! The Bali Scuba was the only company that was able to fulfill my prerequisites regarding the dive itinerary. It was really great adventure to dive in Bali those 4 days (13 dives). On the first day dives near Lembongan Island were great, especially the Mangrove Point. What a fabulous place to dive with nice corals! In the end of day, it was really though car trip Sanur to Pelmuteran, particularly because of my motion sickness. I was so sick after we reached the hotel that I had to lie on a sofa at least 15 minutes until I was able to give my passport to receptionist to sign in. Terrible, indeed. :-/ Suggestion: tip off the winding road and advise to take a pill for nausea if needed

The accommodation experience in Mimpi Resort Menjangan was short, but I have to mention the beautiful garden and exotic half roofless lavatories in roomsnice! :-) Next morning changed everything and I had excellent three dives in Nusa Menjangan and these dives were worth of all the pain and suffer. ;-) Road to Tulamben was faster and diver has also noticed my car sickness on preceding day and he drove more steadily. :-) Accommodation was now Mimpi Resort Tulamben, where were great view to sea. It was nice to eat breakfast and gaze the rising sun on the pool caf矪ust 5 meters from sea. This was the superior class place with excellent service and absolutely great value for my money. A short ride to Amed and two regular dives, then back to Tulamben and two interesting shore dives at Wall and USS Liberty wreck, packing up and transportation to Candidasa. The facilities of Rama Candidasa Hotel were good, but lack of service attitude was clear especially in reception. In the evening and after the well-earned 90 minutes massage, I decided to eat well. After the lazy start of service, it suddenly popped-up to the new level because the restaurant manager liked to attach my tablebut in the end, we had very interesting two hours conversations developing and managing restaurant business, regarding politics, Balinese land lords, corruption and, of course, the differences of Nokia mobile phones and their services if there were made in Finland or Malaysia. =)

Next morning, after a short trip to Padang Bai, we had three standard dives in Blue Lagoon area. It has rained a lot previous night and visibility was weak and I guess we didnt see the best part of Blue Lagoons sea life. Anyway, it was very sunny day, Kirman knew the dive sites very well and we got pretty good service and seafood in the restaurant. After these dives we had 2 hours car trip back to the dive center in Sanur and on the trip we saw nice rice fields and real rain forest. Quick shower and goodbyes and 1h transportation back to my personal pool & coctails boot camp, Legian beach. ;-)

I can easily recommend your dive company without any hesitation. Keep up the good work! :-)

We had a great time with Sangut - I think you should consider a salary raise for him, because he's excellent dive master! He knows exactly where to look and what for, making diving very interesting. When we were in Komodo, the dive master seemed to be not interested at all and you had to explore the reef by yourself if you wanted to find some good photo opportunities.

We had a good time on the surface as well - thanks to him!

You can be sure if we visit Bali again, we'll definately drop into your office - only if you promise to give us Sangut! :))

Just a quick feedback for you now we are back home to reality!

Both Simon and myself had a great couple days diving with you, and really enjoyed both days (Tulemben and Padang Bai). We are both sorry we had to cancel the Nusa Panida dive with you last minute last monday (we had it booked with you for the Tues) as Si developed a slight ear infection, and found it hurt just going in the swimming pool, so we were unable to do the third days diving.

The only thing we both found, was that on each occasion, the guide did not dive to the least experienced diver, and went below the 18 metres I could go to many times. It was not too much of a problem with Simon being a diving instructor, and stayed with me, but we even lost the guide on one of the dives and had to come up on our own. Had I been diving without Simon, I know that I would not have been happy with the situation underwater having to make the decision to follow the guide to below my allowed depth, or to possibly lose sight of the guide with little experience of where I was.

BUT in all, we had a great time, and it was a sad time to leave Bali! If we ever return we will definitely be in touch with yourselves!

I would just like to say that I was very impressed with the professional manner in which I was trained & the relevant information was passed over. If I had that blank look on my face at any time Knaut ensured that it got through & was fully understood before moving on. The whole operation was excellent from the time that I was first picked up at the hotel in Ubud until we were dropped off on the last day. Time didn’t appear to be an issue which was very nice as I managed to make the days very long for everyone by the time you had taken the trouble to run me back to the hotel in Ubud.
I enjoyed both the courses that I did & gained a great deal from them considering that I tend to dive very infrequently. I think that I have managed in the few days diving that I did both in Bali & Lombok managed that see more marine life than any of my previous dives. I think you will also be able to gauge the level of training & confidence that you were able to bring me too by a comment that was made after another days diving that I had while staying on Lombok. The Dive Master was very surprised that I had only 16 dives in my log book & didn’t believe me at first that it was first & only book so far. So thank you for that….
I would also have no hesitation in recommending you to any body that would be traveling to Bali in the future & am looking forward to being able to come back again next year & continue with some more great diving. I found your company / dive site from the internet while researching to come down to Bali on holiday. The site was very informative & well set out. All e-mails were answered in a very prompt manner. Once again, you came through with a memorable diving experience. My friends were a little reticent about diving with you when the realised that we would be starting from our hotel at about 7:15 on a morning, but your team demonstrated that the early starts were well worth it. They would not now consider another Dive operation in Bali.
Sangut was a pleasure to dive with, attentive throughout, and always around to help (above and below water).
The professionalism of your team shone through when we didn't dive Manta point on the first day, conditions were not right. Very commendable to risk disappointing a customer rather than risk their safety.
Eventually made it back to Manta Point a couple of days later and got the Manta my friend was so keen to see. It was the highlight of his trip (mine too - I could hear him squealing with delight underwater from 15 metres away!).

Everything was perfect, except the delay during pick up and drop off, but that was mainly because of the heavy traffic! And I guess a normal thing in Bali!
However I had a wonderful dive trip and your stuff was just great! So anytime I come back to Bali, I would use your service again!

A large part of the enjoyment was due to the excellent guiding and managing of Koamang (did I spell it right?) & Sangut. They took good care of our group and enriched it with their knowledge of the marine life in Tulamben & Nusa Penida. They were ever willing to oblige but never compromised on safety. It was most admirable and appreciated.

I would take this opportunity to thank Bali Scuba especially Menyun and Kirwan (who was with us the whole trip) for making our trip in Bali such a memorable one. I am extremely surprised to have such great hospitality from all of you.
My first experience diving in Bali was horrible and then said to myself i do not want to dive in Bali ever again but what i have experienced this trip has changed my perception of diving in Bali. The service was absolutely FABULOUS.... my group had one of the best times though we didnt get to see the Mola-mola at least we saw the MANTAs - we had a great time with your dive masters - Menyun and Kirwan who made our trip so fun and flexible. I have to say that their service is AWESOME and so accommodating to all of us.. they made us do nothing - which was fantastic especially it is our holiday. All we needed to do is EAT, DRINK and DIVE.
Please keep up the fantastic service. I promise you that we will be back again for another great diving trip. I had a very bad experience with the previous operator I used. Bali Scuba will therefore be my preferred dive operator in Bali. :)

My group of friends who were with me in Bali are still talking about Bali and what a good time they all had... and of course they didn't forget about the Babi Guling at Ubud which was SUPERB....

Drive was great...all road trip aspects were cool in fact...apart from getting stuck in the loo on the way back to sanur at the photo shop! (long story! but maybe they should get the lock fixed!)

I've been meaning to send you an email for a week now to thank you for the great time Alastair and I had diving with your company in Bali. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and I was very impressed with how organised everything was. Also, when Alastair did his technical dive with David on the Wednesday I ended up doing a recreational dive with them on the wreck that afternoon (it was a beautiful wreck, so I had to do it again) which I must owe you money for, please let me know.
The diving was wonderful, next time we will have to make sure we miss the full moon though. Being a warm water junkie I loved getting into water that was 26 - 30 degrees - perfect! I still haven't seen a sea horse but these things happen, maybe next time.
Alastair got some good footage on the camera - we will have to send you a copy when he puts it all onto dvd. We will be recommending Bali Scuba to anyone wishing to dive in Bali, I was very impressed.
Anyway, again thank you for the great diving experience.

Have just got back to the UK after a fabulous trip.

Two days is really not enough time for diving in Tepekong and Nusa Penida. I really wished that I had more time during this trip to do more dives. The dive sites are quite different and exciting as compared to the other places that I had been to. Manta Point is now my favorite place (and floating white trash bags my nemesis when mola mola spotting). ;p
What made the trip happen was that everything was well organised, the dive guides are very professional and they know the sites at the back of their hands. I had a great time diving with you and will definitely be back for more.

We both really enjoyed our FIVE day trips with Bali Scuba and would like to pass on special thanks to our divemasters Menyon, Romon and Kirman, all were very knowledgable of local sites, took time to point out interesting life that we would have otherwise missed, and in perticular Menyon made us both feel very comfortable very quickly on our first dives after a fair while out of the water.
The accommodation up at Menjangin was top of the range and the two days up there were one of the highlights of our holidays.

Do you remember me? I was with the Laura / Liam crew a few weeks ago.
After our fantastic 2 days diving around Nusa Penida, I had an extra day diving on the Liberty Wreck. After the dive I filled in my form with lots of ticks and no comments which I only thought later didn't do your staff justice.
My DM (sorry I forgot her name) was great. Really great. She was professional and competent while being relaxed and friendly. She made me laugh so much underwater, pointed out so so many things I would never had seen by myself and even held my hand when I was a little nervous!
Even the car drive up there was interesting!
I will definitly dive with you again when I come back and have recommended you to friends who are over there now.

The visibility was good on the first day at Tulumben and the sites were great (I think even better than the Great Barrier Reef when I dived there in 1998). Thea is a wonderful instructor and I think she made a difference with her knowledge and professionalism .

One of the users asked about diving in Indonesia, so I wrote about my experience with your dive shop. I will paste it to the end of this message. Thought you might want to know about the good press :-)

I got the PADI advanced certification with Bali Scuba (www.baliscuba.com) last October (2003). The dive operation was remarkably well run. The owner, Chris, struck me as a very honest and kind business man, something that is harder to find in Indonesia than I wish it was. All costs were clear upfront, and were reasonable for the region - as opposed to the typical "bule" gouging and surprise fees. For instance, a driver and porter met us at the airport, carried my gear to the van, and drove us 30 minutes to our hotel for a few $. The hotel for the first night was very reasoanble, and was right across the street from the dive shop, and quite nice inside. They even had a good selection of XL gear, not a common thing there. My divemaster/instructor, Simon Gilbert, was patient and unendingly helpful. He's their best English speaker, being from England, and a really good guy. The other dive master of theirs that I met, Minyan, also seemed nice. We dove all our dives in Tulamben. The visibiilty was quite poor due to mud runoff into the water, and I know the effect was expected to be long term. If I was making dive plans for Bali today, I would try to get updated information about the water visibility. The wreck there is large (100 meters) and very cool to explore. There are over 400 species of fish and such making their homes in/around the wreck, and another 50 or so species that visit. All the dives we did were an easy shore swim. I highly recommend the operation Bali Scuba. My sweetheart, who is Indonesian from Jakarta and lived there until last December, was also impressed with them. They can set you up with wherever on the island you want to go. I understand that the best diving in the region is likely found at Sulawesi, but I don't have any local info. Feel free to email me if you would like to know more about my experience in Indonesia. My sweetheart can also help you translate Indonesian if you find yourself trying to understand a website full of Bahasa.

Just wanted to drop you a line and say "thanks" for a great weekend of diving. The lodging accommodations were fine and the quality of the dives was excellent. I really enjoyed seeing mantas at Manta Point and the reefs at Crystal Bay, SD and Toyapakeh were full of great hard and soft corals and loaded with lots of fish. The Bat Cave dive was especially interesting. Very different. My only regret was not seeing any Mola-Mola. Maybe next time I get to Bali I can schedule a trip to specifically find them. Ramon said he knew where they were, but it is a bit of a boat ride. The only thing that concerned me was the very near miss of having a diver seriously injured or killed during our assent at the Mangrove, Nusa Lembongan. Ramon had the dive sausage up and a dive boat hit the snorkel of one of the divers (Peter) running at full speed. If he had ascended 5 seconds earlier or two feet to the left, a very serious injury would have occurred. Ramon warned us about the boats. My concern is if this is such a dangerous place, you might want to consider not taking divers to it. Other than that the trip was fine. I made a comment about the dive masters not pointing out good critters and my comment was premature since I wrote it before my last dive. Thanks again for a great dive experience. Hopefully I can get back to Bali before I have to leave for the States.

Just a note to say thanks for the good dive training in Bali. The day on Nusa Penida was probably the best day of diving we had the whole trip, including the dives on East Timor. If you haven't been there yet, you should check it out, but I think you'll find that the Bali area has everything that Timor has. I must say that I was very impressed with the professionalism of your team at Bali Scuba - our dive operator in East Timor was considerably more laid back, and for new divers, it didn't inspire quite as much confidence.
