Amed diving highlight

Amed is a tranquil beachside village in the north east coast of Bali. Many divers are in love with the notion of diving the amazing WWII Shipwreck – but around 7-8 Km south of Tulamben is Amed. This peaceful fishing village typically has beautiful, clear and warm waters where you take a local fishing boat (Jukung) to one of the many dive sites.

You will find an abundance of macro species along with schooling Barracuda, a Japanese Shipwreck, low currents with few dive centres going to Amed. There is an amazing combination of natural and artificial reefs and the soft and hard corals are vibrant and mature. This is one of our favourite dive sites to enjoy some fantastic diving and a scenic lunch on the beach.

We conduct daily trips to Amed or we can bundle Amed with any of your short or long-term safaris with Bali Scuba. Excellent for all levels of diver!!!

Amed dive sites

Jemeluk wall

Jemeluk is a very easy diving site in Amed perfect for beginners and underwater macro photographers! Jemeluk Bay has a reef area to the left and a wall, on the right side a reef. Both dives will let you great memories.

If you dive along the wall, you will start your journey after few minute boat ride in a quaint traditional Balinese fishing boat (Jukung). You will make the dive along the steep wall, with a maximum depth of 40 metres, passing hard and soft corals, as well as gorgonians that cover massive rocks, encountering multicolored fish passing by, groupers lying on the floor and even trevally darting about in the blue.

If you decide to discover the reef, you could encounter the pink pigmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti). This species is endemic to Indonesia. It lives on sea fans and is able to change its coloration to blend almost entirely with its host fan. It is a pro in camouflage has it takes gorgonian’s colour and texture. This seahorse measures a couple of millimetres which makes it one of the smallest seahorse species in the world. Be gentle with this animal and adapt a proper code of conduct while diving there.

You will do your safety stop over a shallow plateau bathed in soft sunlight and fish, before being picked up by your Jukung.

Pyramids

Pyramids is an easy dive site which takes its name from the many artificial reefs. Indeed this dive site is made of many pyramid-shaped artificial reefs, home of amazing and vibrant marine life.

The dive is just a 5 minute boat ride away from the shore in a traditional Jukung. Between 12 – 25 metres you will find the pyramid-reefs colonised by a multitude of soft corals and fish as well as nudibranch. In the sand that stretches all along the reef, you will find an abundance of blue-spotted stingray gliding along the sea bed.

Pyramids is full of marine life, our team will help you spot the leaf scorpion fish, stone fish, ghost pipefish fish and many other exotic creatures.

Amed Code of conduct

At Bali Scuba we support and adhere to the Green fins Code of Conduct, guidelines that promote a sustainable way of diving. Established by experts, scientific researchers and dive guides. This standard has been designed to provide divers and dive centres with the most eco-friendly experience for marine life in Bali.
