Gili Tepekong and Mimpang diving highlight

Dive Gili Tepekong and Mimpang for Bali’s most exhilarating dives for experienced divers. Sometimes adrenaline-pumping currents, hoards of fish, Mola, sharks, passing pelagics and an epic day out.

This is one of Bali’s best diving locations and due to the currents bringing in nutrient rich waters you’ll find an abundance of marine life like nowhere else. As these sites are best suited to divers with more than 25 dives experience you’ll also find few other boats and divers – this is Bali diving at its best.

Look out for seasonal mola from July to October, schooling mackerel and fusiliers in the blue, predatory tuna and barracuda and explore the shark cave. The underwater topography around these rocky islet sites is rugged and bold with canyons, drop offs and vibrant corals. These dive sites don’t disappoint!

Dive sites

Gili Tepekong

Gili Tepekong is an epic dive site located below a rock formation close to the Amuk Bay area. The current conditions make it exclusively for experienced divers. But you can trust in the experienced dive guides and instructors of Bali Scuba to keep you safe while having great diving experience. Reachable after 10 min ride boat in Jukung, you will have the choice of diving on the south west side of the rock and discover its canyon (and a little cave) or diving on the east side that highlights a wall plummeting to approximately 40metres. In any case, you will have a great opportunity to spot schools of sweetlips and some butterfly fish, scorpionfish, parrotfish.  There is even the possibility to see some pelagics such as black and white tip reef sharks, barracuda, stingrays, and sometimes Mola (Sunfish), especially from July to October.

Gili Mimpang

Gili Mimpang is close by Gili Tepekong, in the Amuk Bay. Three large rocks on a surface, it becomes a collection of large rocks, with a steep wall underwater.

Also known as Shark Point, this dive site is acknowledged as one of the best places to see white-tip sharks around Bali.

Conditions can vary, sometimes calm and relaxing with warm waters to a more challenging dive with cooler temperatures.
